Most of 1 Chronicles 16 is a celebration of praise. David has finally brought the ark of the covenant to Jerusalem and the people rejoice. Then David gives a beautiful Psalm to the people and the priests.

In this song David calls the heavens, the Earth and all who dwell in it to join and sing praises to the Lord. It even mentions the Love of God that endures forever.

David has been called a very mixed man, full of great deeds and also great lows in his life. Yet it seems that this characteristic of a man of worship never leaves David. He constantly acknowledges the majesty, power and authority of God in his praise. He always has a praise for God, in his trials and even in judgment his heart calls to God.

In spite of his trials and failures David remains an example of what is to live a life of praise.
This picture was a composition I did with my wife lit only by candle light at night. For those who can't read Spanish the verse is "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path." Psalm 119:105 and below you have "Holy Bible" in Spanish.

Part of my poster collection made from pictures I have taken myself. In my first year in college I had to live on my own for the first time in my life. I had to leave my friends, my local Church and my family behind to pursue the will of God for my life.

Among the first things I did was to go to a Christian bookstore and buy some simple and well made posters with Bible verses on them. Very similar to how I do them today. Those posters were a great blessing to me during my first year in college and help me keep my faith strong during very difficult times.

It is my goal to touch others with my posters as those first posters touched my life.
This verse from the book of the prophet Hosea. Israel had turned their back on the Lord that brought them from the land of Egypt and turned to a sinful life. They had their sacrifices, their religion but God wanted to be in the hearts and minds of His people. This verse was a promise from God. That if they would acknowledge Him as Lord and God He would surely return to them.
This flower, although very beautiful, is already showing signs of withering. It's time is so short and part of the cycle of seasons. I'm fully aware this flower will be gone soon and by winter I will not find a single one in my garden. On the other hand the Word of the Lord is a constant truth, never changing, always a sure thing because He who spoke it never changes.
This verse is one of those verses you wish they had in every office in America. It is part of the last things David said as king of Israel, kind of like his farewell speech. In this part he speaks of the benefits of a leader that fears the Lord and rules in Justice. This leader would be a light, a guide, an inspiration and a blessing to those under him. So different from what America believes our corporate leaders should be. In the end the promise will be true to those who meet the requirements of the Lord.

This is a very interesting verse in scripture. It shows that it is God himself who makes the sun come up every morning. Basically if He would not will it there would be no sunrise. This is a great blessing we enjoy every day and God is fully aware that there are many who are not worthy of even the light of the morning; but He still blesses them. We are called to bless others how He blesses, even those who don't deserve it.

Not Even Salomon

I took this picture with an inexpensive Sigma lens. I was not expecting much from the lens macro mode as it was not a real macro lens. Was I in for a surprise when I got home. Not only did the pictures came out well but this image was used it on a 13 X 19 poster with reasonable sharpness. Sometimes we have what we need already; we just don’t know it until we try.

The verse is from a theme I have used before. This particular passage is interesting because it reveals something from Gods character that is often overlooked.

Salomon was the greatest king of his time and today he would have been the combination of the wisest man, the richest man and the most influential man all rolled up in one. Such a king must have had the finest white linen, most exotic silk clothes and the most glamorous jewelry that man could forge in fire.
Yet God says that the flowers were better dressed than Salomon. How is this possible? Well, Salomon had the best clothes man could generate but the flowers had been clothed by the very hand of God.
You see, from God’s point of view the least of His works is always greater than the best of ours.
God Bless.
This poster was made for a missionary organization called "Hands of Love for Bolivia Inc.". They have a wonderful children’s ministry with poor children in Bolivia.

They wanted me to help them with promoting the ministry across the Churches so I made them this poster as a start.

This is version 2.0 of “Overcome”. The original image was both small and made from poor quality JPG images in Photoshop. At that time it worked well because we used it for small things or web publishing. When the time came to use it for large print the quality was just not there.

I tried many things to recreate the image. From massive Photoshop restoration, 3D models to Corel Painter I just could not get the look I wanted.

Somewhere along the way I decided that the best way to remake the image was to convert it to a painting. Corel Painter seemed like the perfect tool for this but I just could not get anything I liked. Then while playing with a painting package called Artrage something I liked started to emerge. After a lot of work I finally have a painted version of “Overcome” that we can use for large printing.
I was thinking of the New Jerusalem but I must make it clear that my image is not faithful to the text. It was not out of some personal theological interpretation but rather a reflection of my limited painting abilities.
I liked the way it came out and I actually have a print of it on my desk at work. Then I saw a few images made with Painter based on astronomical images and I just had to give it a try.

Originally my idea was to make this image an outdoors scene with leaves floating above a woman worshiping and dancing. When I did my test renders it just was not coming together so I put it on the future ideas folder. Then I saw this wonderful tutorial by Neil Duerden on Computer Arts Projects Magazine called “Going Round in Circles” and the idea returned to me. I actually come from 2D into 3D so mixing them as I did in this image fells very natural to me and brings many of my talents together.

All renders were done with Daz Studio and the background was a separate fractal render in Bryce. The lines were done in Illustrator and all was put together in Photoshop in the end.

The message I wanted to convey was actually very simple. I wanted to communicate joy, dancing, worship and motion at the same time. Church worship can many times be a little rehearsed as it is a group activity. Worshiping at Church can be glorious but when we are alone with God we are many times released from the patterns and scripts and can truly worship with all out hearts, minds, bodies and spirit.

This was the verse I was thinking when I began to make this image, “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Matthew 7:13-14 NIV

I wanted an everyday young person in the center. With modern clothes and hair but at the same time I wanted to keep the surroundings natural. I wanted the center character to look ordinary in how he looked but not ordinary in what he was doing or where he was going. The path had to be long but you had to be able to see the destination.

In the end I used the verse from Proverbs 4:18 because I felt it was even more descriptive of what I wanted to communicate. The life of those who trust in God is a long path. We often wonder how long it is or what we will see around the corner. The waters are not always calm and the scenery around you can change in an instant. On the other hand we can see glimpses of eternity every day and we know someday we will finally see everything on the other side.

This verse from Isaiah 9:2 is a prophesy about Jesus. It was fulfilled in Matthew 4:12-17 at the beginning of the ministry of Jesus.

Matthew 4:12-17 NIV

When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he returned to Galilee. Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali— to fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah:
"Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali,
the way to the sea, along the Jordan,
Galilee of the Gentiles—
the people living in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death
a light has dawned."
From that time on Jesus began to preach, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."

What gets my attention is that the people living in Capernaum did not know they were “people living in darkness”. It was not until the light of God came to them in the form of His only begotten Son that they realized just how dark it was before. It is not until you see the light that you will realize you are actually in darkness.

God Bless and enjoy.

One of the great benefits of salvation is access to the very throne of God. In this life we may not be able to call a world ruler, have a meeting with a prime minister or a president but you can still have an audience with the Creator of the universe.

In this life unless you are very close to those in power chances are you will never get to meet them or truly be heard by them. We might see their pictures, see them on TV and maybe even see them in person but in most cases they will not even know we exist.

But God has never wanted this to be our relationship with Him. God did not want for those who believed in Jesus to be far away, distant or for Him to be a stranger to us.

This is why Jesus created a new way, a way that did not exist before He paid for our sins on the cross. “Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body,” Hebrews 10:19-20

I now can enter the presence of God. It is not by anything I have done or any good deed I may have performed but by what Jesus did for me. God is still God, he did not become less, it was just that we were lifted up from our sins and made acceptable in His presence.

“Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Hebrews 4:16

About the Image: I was trying to capture entering the presence of God but trying not to loose the "AWE" (I think that is the correct term, English second language) of having an audience before the Creator of the Universe. The idea came from my wife as I was working on another image in Bryce that I was just not happy with. All she said was “You know, to me this looks like the sea of glass in Heaven” and then the image took a life of it’s own.

God bless and enjoy.

This image is a remake of the cover art I made for Hope and Freedom Magazine Issue #1 over 10 years ago. The original image was done all in Micrographics Draw and Photoshop 2.5 (first version for Windows, wow, how time goes by).

This new version was done with Poser, Bryce, Illustrator and Photoshop. We no longer print the magazine but Hope and Freedom Ministries is still touching lives.

I recreated it because we needed a nice small logo to print on T-Shirts. It came out so good that I recreated it again for 300 DPI printing so it could stand alone as it’s own image.

My favorite part of this image is that it is real; God DOES have the world in His hands.

God Bless and enjoy.

Lamp To My Feet

This image was created for 300 DPI printing and distribution; it has been reduced in size to post on the web.

The verse on the Bible “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” is a verse I learned during my first year of college (long time ago) but it is a big part of my faith. What actually calls my attention on the verse is a not so obvious detail. You see, it says “A Lamp To My Feet”, in other words, the light from the word of God helps me to take every steep, one at a time. The light from His word lets me see the path, maybe even the end of the road but I only have enough light for the next step. That is the walk of faith, faith on the word of God and it is a sure guide to reach my eternal destination.

God Bless.

Consider The Lilies Ver 2

This version 2 of "Consider The Lilies" was created mostly because I wanted a version that could be used in standard 8 X 10 picture frames. This version has been reduced in size and with a brighter frame than the printed copy for web display.

I live in the state of Pennsylvania and before that I live on a tropical island called Puerto Rico for 30 years. This scene reminds me of home (PR) but mostly reminds me how the Lord has provided for my family and me across the years.

As the Lord provides for the birds and clothes the flowers of the field so He also provides for those that trust in Him.

God Bless and Enjoy.

When Angels Meet Ver2

Originally created as a gift for my 4-year-old daughter. Inspired by her prayers at night “and bless daddy, mommy, Ruben, Paola, the birdies, the rainbows, the pretty flowers, Paola’s puppy, and grandma, and grandpa …”

This is version 2 of this image. This is the 101 fix version where I fixed everything I could fix from the original. There are still a FEW issues that someone with a sharp eye could find but I may have reached the limits of my software.

I still need to do a very small change at the moment but this is 98% of what I think will be final.

God bless and Enjoy.

The Call

This has always been an interesting image for me. It came from a picture of New York my wife liked many years ago. If you see carefully you can see the twin towers when they were still standing (this image was done before 9/11).

In the picture the sky was actually larger than the city and my wife said "This would be a great image to show the return of the Lord" and I thought she had a great idea.

It shows the coming of the Lord and the calling of the saints as described in the text in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17. It was one of the first images I did that just needed high quality glossy paper to come out right.

God Bless and enjoy.

To Gain The Whole World

This image was created for poster printing at 300 dpi. It has been reduced in size to post on the web.

The image is a remake of another poster I made 6 years ago using Ray Dream Studio and Photoshop. That particular poster had Spanish text and was 7 feet X 7 feet and used on evangelistic campaigns on the island of Santo Domingo. This version is much smaller but the basic concept is the same.

The verse is from Mark 8:36. Here Jesus was trying to create conscience on what was most important in life. He was not saying that to gain anything in this life or to pursuit any goal in life is bad. But rather to gain anything in this life, even to gain the whole world would be a waste if in the end your soul was lost.
God bless and enjoy.

I am the Resurrection

The original image is from picture I took at a musical on my local Church on Easter. The musical is called “Behold the Lamb” and we give it every year around the same time. In total it takes around 150 people and several months of work to setup. In this scene Jesus calls Lazarus from the grave and Lazarus greets his savior.

I converted the picture to a painting in Photoshop and the letters were done in Illustrator. The image was created for T-Shirt printing.

I must thank the West Hills Church Theater group for one of the most inspiring and uplifting experiences in my walk with Christ. Pictures and images just can’t capture the moment and I’m not sure if even full screen video could do it justice.
