Narrow Is The Way Bryce, Photoshop, Poser February 2007
This was the verse I was thinking when I began to make this image, “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Matthew 7:13-14 NIV
I wanted an everyday young person in the center. With modern clothes and hair but at the same time I wanted to keep the surroundings natural. I wanted the center character to look ordinary in how he looked but not ordinary in what he was doing or where he was going. The path had to be long but you had to be able to see the destination.
In the end I used the verse from Proverbs 4:18 because I felt it was even more descriptive of what I wanted to communicate. The life of those who trust in God is a long path. We often wonder how long it is or what we will see around the corner. The waters are not always calm and the scenery around you can change in an instant. On the other hand we can see glimpses of eternity every day and we know someday we will finally see everything on the other side.
