A New Path
After years of trying to move closer to the web and design I finaly have a full time design job. I have very strong technical skills but once I developed my artistic skills the web seemed like the perect place to go. Unfortunetly it took me years to leave the world of IT into the world of design. With a lot of hard work, working on intranet portals and improving my artistic skills I moved into the world of web design on the Internet. Here I get to use all that I know and enjoy at the same time.

I will still keep on working on my personal art projects as that is something that I will always do. I have also taken a very strong liking to photography and it is perhaps by favorite way of relaxing these days.

God Bless.

Time to go beyond 3D
I keep notes on all the ideas I have for art. Some I have done but others I just did not feel were right for 3D. Coming from the world of Photoshop and image editing I get many ideas that are beyond 3D models but are closer to paintings and abstracts. The problems were that my drawing and painting skills were good enough to make 2D images.

So after much thought I have decided to fix this problem. I will be talking drawing and painting classes for probably the next year. I have been collecting hardware (Drawing Tablet), lots of software and every book and magazine I think that could help me. I hope that after a year of courses (and lots of hard work) I will at least be able to reach a point where I can do some basic sketching and painting.

In the end my goal to mix my 3D renders with 2D paintings and hopefully break the barriers I have when using only 3D. Don’t take me wrong, 3D is amazing and getting better but the projects I want to do demand I become very good in 2D. Hopefully my next additions to my gallery will be 2D + 3D or just some nice paintings.

God Bless

The Lord Has Been Merciful
It seems that my art has been doing a lot better than what I could have imagine. “Consider The Lilies” and “When Angels Meet” both were selected to the Carrara galleries at Daz3D.com. Also “Lamp To My Feet” made 4th place out of 107 entries on the Premium Galleries at Daz3D.com. I have also gotten many complements and encouragements from many people.

This is forcing me to consider many things I had not thought about before like mass distribution, selling art or even commissioned artwork. These are all long-term plans but to be truly faithful to the talent the Lord has given me I’m being forced to think about bigger things than what I’m doing now.

My immediate goals are now:

1) Build the portfolio. I will need a lot more quality images than what I have now.
2) When time permits I will setup my own website with my images, articles and Bible studies (yes, those need a home on the web too). I’m a web developer after all so the web site is not really a problem for me.

I don’t know where this path will take me but I intent to present myself faithful before the Lord with everything he has given me.

God Bless

Getting Better
I consider myself a beginner in CG art. I don’t know how to draw or paint so I feel I’m at a great disadvantage compared with the rest of the CG community.

In spite of this I’m doing my very best in trying to get better. I have no formal art education and everything I know basically comes from reading books. In the past I used to concentrate on learning the use of the tools but know the tools are becoming more secondary. I have a better idea of what I want to do and pick the best tools I have for the job. I guess I’m starting to get some real art sense.

My immediate goals at the moment is to become an expert with a few tools and learn about color, texturing and lighting techniques. Eventually I want to also learn how to model 3D meshes and texture them but that will have to come later.

At the moment I'm revisiting some of my old art projects. By applying what new things I have learned they are starting to actually become good. The Lord has been merciful in letting me get this far and I plan to see where this roads takes me.
